Desired Candidate Profile
THE ROLE

Should have proven experience in leading engineering teams in developing and supporting online consumer services on both web and mobile.

Has to provide leadership for planning, recruiting
Manage a world class technology, product development and application engineering team delivering solutions to support company’s strategic goals.

Set up company product and IT strategy as part of senior management team.

Work with product administration, marketing and operations leaders to establish and clarify project requirements.

Responsible and accountable for managing the IT budget and resources (15 IT members covering development, DB, QA, network, documentation).

Responsible for taking smart decisions on build v.buy.

Help define and ensure everything we build meets our guidelines for reuse, productization, SEO, advertising operations, metrics, etc.

Work directly with product management personnel to ensure successful and measurable deliverables.

Identify and champion opportunities to define and leverage best practices across multiple development initiatives

Communicate progress, status, issues, and resolutions to various business units, management, and COO via verbal and written status reports

Qualifications:

Minimum 8 years experience leading development, delivery and support of enterprise level applications, at least 3 in consumer facing web-based environment.

Strong background and knowledge of Solution Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from vision to post deployment, and its appropriate implementation of industry best practices.

Lead technical design on key projects.

Experience in web based consumer centric application development particularly using open source technologies.

Strong background and knowledge of all aspects of software testing (unit, component, regression, functional, systems integration and user acceptance testing )

Thorough understanding of n-tier software system architectures including web servers and technologies, service oriented architectures and relational database principles

Understanding of object-oriented design and design patterns utilizing use cases, Unified Modeling Language (UML), and an awareness of emerging technologies and standards

Experience with agile software development lifecycle methodologies and frameworks.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Graduate degree (MBA or technical) desired.
